A Day in the Life: Epcot Edition

A Day in the Life: Epcot Edition

WELCOME TO THE BLOG!!!  Today we’re talking about Disney, more specifically Epcot.  What to do, what not to do, what you should expect.  Epcot is a pretty cool, very diverse place.  There is so much to do there, and not a lot of time to do it!  So let’s get going.

I talked about it a little bit in the last blog, but some of the Disney resorts used a skyliner to get to and from Epcot. Pop Century (the resort we stayed at,) used this system. It was a really fun change of scenery from using the bus, and you get to see some of the other hotels. If you use the skyliner, make sure to leave a little early, because the line gets long.

Let’s start with what the most popular rides at Epcot are.  Test Track, Sorin’ Around the World and Frozen Ever After usually have pretty long wait times, even during COVID.  When we went, Test Track had an almost 60 minute wait, and Frozen Ever After had about a half hour which wasn’t too bad.  Sorin’ wasn’t too long either, but in past years when I have been with the park at full capacity, it gets up to over an hour fast. I would highly recommend checking these rides out first if you can, so you won’t have to wait in the long lines that will form quickly!  Also, if you plan on visiting Disney any time soon, keep in mind that even though the capacity is a lot lower than it usually is, there are a lot less people allowed on each ride, so the lines still can take a while sometimes.

If you haven’t been on any of these rides, Test Track “test drives” a car.  So you sit in a little car and you go through all these different tests, like speed tests and weather tests and see how your car performs.  In the past, part of the ride was that you got to build your own car on a touch screen tablet, but because of COVID, that part of the ride isn’t available.  On Sorin’, you sit in front of a big screen and it feels like you are flying through the air.  The ride takes you all around the world and displays some really pretty views.  Lastly, in the Frozen ride, you sit in a boat and it takes you through the Frozen movie, and you may even hear some of your favorite songs.

Some other rides that I like at Epcot are Spaceship Earth and Figment.  There aren’t too many “thrill” rides at Epcot, they are more low key and take you through experiences/movies if that makes sense. This being said, I really do still enjoy the rides, even though I am typically more of the thrill seeker type.  They are really fun to ride and you may even learn a thing or two.

If you’re looking to get a bite to eat in Epcot, I have a huge money saving tip for you.  Eating at Disney can be very expensive, and it can add up fast.  Every day we went to Disney, we packed lunches to save money.  Fun fact, you can bring food into the parks at Disney!  So, everyday, we brought peanut butter and jelly, chips, granola bars, things like that.  We really wanted to eat at Epcot because they have so many different options at the World Showcase.  The World Showcase is filled with displays representing different countries.  The 11 countries in the World Showcase are Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, the United States, Italy, Germany, China, Norway and Mexico.  Like I said, eating at the World Showcase restaurants can be very expensive, but it is still really fun to try different foods from the different countries, so I highly recommend doing so.  If you want to save some money, eat at the food stands located throughout the World Showcase.  They have tons of smaller food stands with delicious foods in each country!  We were in the mood for Mexican food, so we went to a walk up and order restaurant and got nachos and tacos for really inexpensive.  Then for dessert, we walked over to Italy and grabbed some gelato.  That meal would have cost a lot more if we had eaten at a sit down restaurant.  If you want to save some money, check out the smaller stands, because there are so many options and the food is so yummy! Also, you can get an array of choices from different stands.

This was the menu for the restaurant that we went to. Highly recommend!

To stay on the topic of the World Showcase for a minute, it is really something you should spend some time at if you ever find yourself in Epcot.  It’s like you get to travel to 11 different countries in 1 day!  You get a great snapshot of what each country is like and you get to immerse yourself in the culture of each country, listen to different music and try different foods.

Epcot is a great time and I hope some of my tips help you out if you go there!  At Epcot, you can have a great time, and learn some new things all at the same time.  I can’t wait to share more blogs with you, and thank you for supporting me, you are amazing.

Have a great end of the week!
