There is so much to see and do in New York City. Every time I go, I see something that I never have before. This trip was filled with new experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
Getting to the City
Driving in the city is very difficult, stressful and chaotic. It can also be hard to find a place to park. I have found the best way to travel in the city is without a car. I like to take the train because I get dropped off right at Grand Central Station and don’t have to worry about getting stuck in traffic or finding a place to park. Once you get into the city, there are so many different ways to travel.
Getting Around
For the first time, I bought tickets for a double decker bus that takes you around the city. Some pros to these buses is that you can purchase passes that allow you to get on and off the bus wherever and whenever there is a stop. It was a really good way to see a lot of the city. A lot of the buses give you headphones that you can plug in and hear facts about New York as you drive through. One con about these buses is that because you can get on and off at so many stops, it takes a while to get to different places. If you are just trying to get from one place to another the fastest way, the subway is probably the best way to travel, but if you want to see a lot of the city, the bus is the way to go.
9/11 Tribute Museum
I visited the 9/11 Tribute Museum for the first time which is different from the 9/11 Memorial Museum. This museum was a lot less crowded then the Memorial Museum and there was a lot to see. I have never been to the Memorial Museum, so I can’t compare the two, but the Tribute Museum had a lot of artifacts and quotes form people who were in New York on 9/11. It was very heart wrenching, but a very interesting place to see.
Ferry Tour
The ferry tour I went on was one of the best parts of the trip. On the tour, we passed the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center. The tour guide had lots of fun facts about the city and made it a really fun experience. This tour was also a great opportunity for pictures. The tickets I purchased included the bus tour and the ferry tour. The ferry I traveled on was the CitySeeing New York Hop-On Hop-Off Ferry.
M&M Store
The M&M store is somewhere that I like to visit every time I visit NYC and it never gets old. This store is located right in Times Square. They have lots of souvenirs but the best part is picking all types of M&M’s to take home. How this works is the employees give you a bag and you fill it with all different flavors of M&M’s. They charge you based on how heavy the bag is. This store is so much fun and definitely somewhere worth checking out when visiting the city.
Hard Rock Cafe
Hard Rock Cafe has a lot of locations and one of them is in New York City. In the restaurant, they have lots of items such as instruments and clothes on display from different musicians. There is also music playing all the time and music videos playing all around the restaurant The food at Hard Rock is delicious and there are lots of different options. Hard Rock does tend to get busy around 7 pm for dinner, so if you are going around this time, making a reservation is something you might want to think about.
There is so much to see in New York City, so planning out what you want to do is important to make the most out of your time there. If you plan on doing anything that requires tickets, it’s a good idea to look online before you go to reserve your tickets. Also, some attractions are cheaper if you buy tickets ahead of time. My trip to New York City was a lot of fun and something that I won’t soon forget.
