College is a huge adjustment for everyone. This time of year, a lot of students are moving into school and starting a completely new experience. In this blog, I wanted to share some tips I found helped me when going back to school.
One tip that I found really helpful for me was keeping myself busy. Through most of the school year, I write a list of things that I want to accomplish for that day. I put things like doing homework and even simple tasks like doing laundry or making my bed. Making a list of things you are going to do really helps because you keep yourself busy and you also feel productive when you start checking items off your list.
It is so important to get yourself into a routine. For example, one thing that I like to do is go to the gym every day before my classes start. After a week or so, I get into a routine of going to the gym, going to class and getting my homework done after class. Getting yourself into a routine is super important and makes you feel more comfortable at school.
Like I said before, I went to the gym every morning because it was part of my routine. There are also so many benefits of going to the gym in the morning before classes start. First off, it helps you be on time for class and more awake when class begins. Because I was at the gym and up for a couple hours before my classes, by the time I got to class, I was more awake. Going to the gym in the morning made me feel ready for the day and on time. Also, once you get into the habit of going everyday, you feel guilty when you don’t go. I think that going to the gym every day really helped me feel both physically and mentally better. It also helped my routine and helped me be on time.
Organization is key when you are in college. You are taking lots of classes and going to have lots of different assignments. It’s really important to make sure you are keeping track of all your assignments and setting time aside each day to work on homework or study.
Take time for you! With all of your classes and everything else that you have going on, it is so important to take time to take care of yourself. Self care is really important and looks different for everyone. Maybe it’s going out with friends, taking some time to yourself or doing something that you love. Self care is key in college and remember, you always have to make time for you.
College is a huge adjustment but it’s also such an amazing experience. You meet tons of new people, have lots of new experiences and learn a lot about yourself. Don’t let the fear of doing something new hold you back! College is a great experience and one that you can grow a lot from.
