Bed Head Hair Crimping Tool: 5-Star or Flop?

Bed Head Hair Crimping Tool: 5-Star or Flop?

So, I thought of a new idea to add to the blog. I really like doing review type blogs and you guys seem to like them too! So I am going to try to do at least 1 product review per month. Today, I am going to talk about the Bed Head Crimping tool. I have tried using it twice since I bought it. Here’s what I think.

These are two products I use when I curl my hair! I use the Drybar Prep Rally spray. It adds some volume and it also is a heat protector. I will link it here. The other product I use is Tresemme curling hairspray. It is super inexpensive and it doesn’t make your hair feel heavy and sticky. I will link that here.

First of all, lets talk price. This was right around $25 at Target which is pretty standard for a curling iron. I’ll link it here if you want more info.

I have a curling wand and a generic, regular barrel curling iron. The curling wand makes really tight curls while the curling iron makes looser ones. The crimper falls somewhere in the middle. The curls aren’t super tight but they aren’t super tight either.

Here are the pros. It heats up really fast. I have been putting it on a pretty high setting when I use it. Also, it looks very similar to the curls you get after you take out braids. I bought this because I like how my hair curls after wearing braids, but I am not great at braiding my own hair. Also, I don’t really like sleeping with braids in my hair because I find it a little bit uncomfortable. That being said, this curling iron does create very similar curls to the ones you get when you braid. It is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. I also think that the price of it is a pro because it is pretty inexpensive. Lastly, it holds really well. I barely had to put any hairspray. My hair usually holds curls really well because it is wavy anyway. I would be interested to see how it holds with thinner hair.

I do have a couple cons. The first is that it takes a while. My hair is really heavy and it’s medium length. It took me about an hour to do. It takes longer than a regular curling iron because you have to hold little pieces of hair at a time and then work your way down on that same strip to create a “crimp” look. So, if you have longer hair, it does take a while. Secondly, it is a little tricky to get the hang of at first. I would recommend splitting your hair up into sections when you are curling it so that it is easier to keep track of the pieces you have done so that you don’t miss any pieces.

Overall, I think this is a good way to get crimped hair without braiding it. Maybe once I practice with it more, I will be able to do it a little faster. Products like this sometimes just take a few tries to get it right.
