Christmas on a Budget? Check out these homemade gifts!

I am super excited about this blog! At the beginning of the week, if you follow my Instagram (@signedashlyn), you saw this picture:

The caption said that I was making homemade Christmas gifts for the holiday season. Well, here they are! I made 2 different homemade gifts that both came out really great. I found ideas similar to these on Pinterest, and then I made it my own. These gifts are super inexpensive, creative and really fun to make.

The Chocolate Sleigh

All you need for the chocolate sleigh is 2 candy canes, a KitKat bar, mini Hershey’s chocolate, ribbon, tape and mini bows. The first step is to tape two candy canes to the bottom side of the KitKat. This will create the sleigh look. Then, you are going to make a pyramid shape with the Hershey’s chocolate. You start by putting a row of 4 on the Kit Kat, then a row of 3 on top, then 2, then 1. I put a tiny piece of tape on each of the candy bar’s so that they would stay on. After that, cut some ribbon and placed one strand across the KitKat and then another going in the opposite direction creating an X with the ribbon. After you have secured your ribbon, place a little bow on top and you are done!

I had a lot of fun making this gift. It was really inexpensive and super easy to make. The chocolate sleigh would make a great holiday treat for your friends and family.

A Unique Take on Hot Cocoa

I have seen a lot gifts that involve hot chocolate. Some of which include hot chocolate ingredients in a mug or in a mason jar. I think these gifts are really cute, but also pretty common. When I saw hot chocolate mix in an ornament on Pinterest, I knew I had to give it a try.

All you need for this gift is hot chocolate mix, clear ornaments (which I found at the dollar store, chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. The first step is to unscrew the top of the ornament and pour in the hot chocolate mix. Be careful because it can get messy if you pour too fast! I used 2 packets of hot chocolate mix for each ornament. Also, make sure that the hot chocolate is evenly layered. Then take your chocolate chips and pour them over the top of the hot chocolate mix until it is completely covered. After that, pour in the mini marshmallows until the ornament is pretty much full. Then you’re done!

This was super easy and also really inexpensive to make! I think these came out really cute and are another great gift option this holiday season.

I hope you enjoyed reading about these holiday gift ideas! I had so much fun making them! If you make either of these, please share in the comments below!
