The long awaited Florida trip is finally here, which means it’s time to get packing. Packing for a place like Florida is usually pretty easy because I don’t have to pack a lot of heavy clothing. I have definitely picked up some packing tips, things to bring, things not to bring, and I wanted to share some of those things with you today.
So…here’s some things to keep in mind if you are packing for Disney.
- Roll clothes, don’t fold! I feel like a lot of people already do this, but I like to mention it because rolling up clothes saves so much space!
- Plan out your outfits ahead of time, don’t bring too many options. When I used to pack for trips, I would bring a ton of clothes and then plan out what I wanted to wear once I got there. This leads to a lot of over packing! So now, I plan out each outfit before I pack. This saves space and also saves time because I know exactly what I am going to wear each day.
- Leave extra space in your suitcase, because you always come back with more than you came with. When you’re on vacation, you are probably going to get souvenirs, so make sure you leave some extra space in your suitcase for those.
- Check airline policies about how many bags you can take before you leave. A lot of airlines let you bring one personal item, like a backpack or a purse and a carry on. Make sure to look into this beforehand so you know how much you can bring.
- Get reusable bottles for soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. I got some from Amazon a few years ago and I absolutely love them. They save a lot of money because you don’t have to buy travel sized products and you can also just fill them with the products you use every day.
What to pack in your carry on:
- When I go to Disney or any place where I am going to be carrying a backpack, I bring a backpack as my carry on to save some space. I got a really cute Disney backpack for this trip (that you will definitely see in Instagram pictures) and I used that as my carry on.
- A travel pillow. I think travel pillows are super underrated. They are so convenient and perfect to have on a plane.
- A book, to keep your busy.
- A journal, if you are like me and like to write.
- A bathing suit! Now, this might seem like a weird thing to bring in your carry on bag, but hear me out. I like to bring a bathing suit in my carry on because if your room isn’t ready yet when you get to the hotel, you can just grab your bathing suit from your bag and hang out by the pool while you wait for your room.
- Any important documents you may need.
What to bring in your park bag:
- Ponchos! I can’t express enough how great these are to have, especially in Florida where it rains at random points in the day. I got a pack of individually wrapped ponchos that I keep in my bag from Amazon. Ponchos at the park are insanely expensive so it’s so great to have these handy.
- A portable charger, just in case your phone dies.
- A sweatshirt, so you are prepared if it gets cold at night.
- Sunscreen, you are in Florida after all.
- Sunglasses, just in case!
- A small wallet with the important stuff, credit cards, license, money.
- Snacks! Huge money saver to pack some snacks instead of buying them all at the park.
I am so excited for all of the Disney content that is coming! And I hope that you are excited too. I’m not going to be posting on the blog this week, but I’m going to be posting a lot on Instagram so make sure to follow me there!

Ashlyn
