Valentine’s Baskets that are Cute, Practical and Affordable

Valentine’s Baskets that are Cute, Practical and Affordable

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, love is in the air. While Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to eat some candy and get together with the people you love…it can be STRESSFUL! It can also be expensive! But it doesn’t have to be. Valentine’s doesn’t have to be a hundred dollar holiday, (unless you want it to be…more power to ya). If you’re on a budget, or if you want to pay for a fun experience for Valentine’s and just want to get your boyfriend/girlfriend/galentine a little something, this blog is for you. Let’s be real, buying Valentine’s gifts can be quite the project. You’ve got your classics like candy, stuffed animals (which are also SO expensive but we won’t go down that road), chocolates, flowers, etc. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Valentine’s staples, but after you’re with someone for a few Valentine’s, things can get repetitive. I created two different Valentine’s gift baskets, one that has more girl focused items and the other has more boy focused items. If you are looking to do some Valentine’s shopping this weekend and need some inspiration, you have come to the right place.

For the Boys

Let’s be real, making a Valentine’s basket for a boy is just a challenge, but I’ve got you covered. One thing that I think can help when trying to do something a little more creative/different is going with a color scheme. So for Valentine’s Day, I focused on red for the boys box. This can get tricky, but I think I found a lot of items that fit the theme. Everything that I got from this box can be found at Target.

The red themed basket

Item #1: Chips $2.19

I went with Pringles for my box because it was the first red packaged chip I could think of, but you could also get Doritos or Cheez-Its.

Item #2: Animal Crackers $1.69

This is another snack type item that I thought of. I wanted to make sure to add more than just snacks, but it’s always fun, easy and inexpensive to add a few.

Item #3: Watermelon Flavored Water $0.99

Target has a lot of fun drinks that you could add to your box like the Watermelon flavored water that I added to mine!

Item #4: Gatorade $1.19

Sticking with the drink trend, Gatorade was another drink that came to mind right away when I thought of red and thought it would be fun to add to the box.

Item #5: Body Wash $5.97

Moving away from the snacks for a bit, Old Spice body wash is another great item that you can add to your box. Again, it fits right in with the red theme, smells great and is something different to add to the box that is practical as well.

Item #6: Phase 10 Card Game $5.99

Card games are so much fun and there are so many to choose from at Target. I am a huge card game fan and I love card games as a gift. The game that I picked up for my box is called Phase 10. It isn’t completely red, but was the closest game I could find to fit the color scheme. This is also such a cute gift to put in your significant other’s Valentine’s basket because you can play the game together. I have never played Phase 10 but it seems like a twist on Rummy, which I love. This game or any other card game that you can find is such a great edition to your basket.

Item #7: Cupcakes with Gift Box $1.48 for Cupcakes, $0.98 for Gift Box

These cupcakes and the gift box were actually from Walmart. I got a container of mini cupcakes and stacked a few into a red box to add to my box. Again, this is super inexpensive and a really cute touch.

The total price of this gift box was $22.47. Not bad for all of that stuff! Buying these small items is a really inexpensive and different gift to give this Valentine’s Day. Also, sticking to the red color scheme makes everything look more aesthetically pleasing and gives it a nice extra touch.

For the Ladies

Alright boys listen up. Here is some inspiration for a gift basket you can make for your Valentine. Also, this box can make a super cute Galentines present too. I had a blast putting this one together and I love how it came out. Again, just like the boys box, I tried to find items that are cute but also practical. For this box, I went with a pink color scheme.

The Pink Box

Item #1: Cotton Candy $2.49

This is a fun one to add. I saw it at Target and had to get it. A classic.

Item #2: Snapple $1.19

Snapples are so good, especially the Kiwi Strawberry flavor which is perfect for the pink color scheme.

Item #3: Sparkling Ice Drink $1.00

These drinks are another one that are so yummy and something your Valentine might not drink all of the time. Adding a couple of fun drinks to the basket is something really fun for your Valentine.

Item #4: Pink Soap $0.99

This is a really practical and different item that isn’t a traditional Valentine’s gift but a cute idea nonetheless. There are so many different pink soaps that you can choose from, but I just went with the classic Dial soap for my basket.

Item #5: Face Mask $2.49

I am obsessed with this face mask. It is a Valentine’s themed item, but I found it in the section of Target where all of the skincare is found. It’s the perfect addition to this basket.

Item #6: Baking Set $3.00

This item was found in the under $5 section of Target and it includes a little whisk, spoon and spatula, which are all pink and red colored. It fits the color scheme perfectly and is another different item that whoever you decide to give this box to will love.

Item #7: Candle $5.00

This pink candle is Wild Cherry Blossom scented and it smells AMAZING. I would highly recommend this scent and it again fits our color scheme. Plus, it’s only $5!

Item #8: Grow Your Own Basil $3.00

This item can be found at Target year round, but I thought it would be perfect for this basket because it’s pink and also has little hearts on the pot. This was in the under $5 section of Target.

Item #9: Pot Holder $0.99

This pot holder is from Walmart and it is just so adorable. It says “I love you to peaches” on the front and it is pink for our color scheme. This was in the Valentine’s section of Walmart and there were a lot of other themed cooking items there as well.

Item #10: Pink Water Bottle $3

I found a pink water bottle at Target for only $3 so I thought it would be a great addition to this basket!

Item #10: Gift Box with Cupcakes $1.48 for Cupcakes, $0.98 for Gift Box

This gift box is the same one I used for the red basket, I just got one in pink also. The box was from Walmart and the mini cupcakes were also from Walmart, but you can find those anywhere!

The total price of this gift box was $25.60. It was right around the $25 budget and I was able to find a lot of items for that price! I loved how this basket turned out and highly recommend making it for someone you love this Valentine’s Day!

I hope that this blog helped you get some inspiration for Valentine’s Day gifts for someone that you love! I also posted a TikTok on the Signed Ashlyn TikTok page and a Youtube video that I linked below about these boxes if you want to check those out. I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
