The Ordinary is a pretty inexpensive skincare brand. The products are vegan and cruelty free. Sounds pretty good right? My friend (hi Kate!) actually told me about this brand. About a week later, another one of my friends (hi Julia!) said that she had ordered something from them too. She got the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. I instantly recognized this mask from social media. To be completely honest, when I kept seeing it online I thought that it looked a little bit gross. First of all, it’s red. Second of all, it dries on your face so I was afraid it was going to stain my face red. But none the less, I was intrigued. So I started looking into it.
Like I said before, it is pretty inexpensive. You can get in on a lot of different websites including Ulta, Sephora and The Ordinary website. I got it for $7.20 on Ulta. I started looking at the reviews and they were pretty much all positive. People said it made their skin feel really soft, glow and that it was worth all of the hype. The one negative review that I saw a few times was that you can’t leave it on for the recommended 10 minutes at first because it burns. Instead, it is better to work your way up to 10 minutes.
I was really excited to try this mask after all the posts I had seen about it. It came in a little glass bottle and the packaging was simple and clean. I do think that this mask will last a while because even though the bottle itself is small, you do not need to use a lot. It comes with a little pipette looking applicator. The face mask is pretty drippy, so you have to rub in it pretty fast so that it doesn’t get everywhere. You just put drops all over your face and rub it in.
I was actually able to leave the mask on for 10 minutes and it didn’t really bother me. At first, there was a little bit of a tingly feeling but that went away really fast and I couldn’t really feel it. My sister was also able to leave it on for 10 minutes too and we both have pretty sensitive skin. I also didn’t put too much on so that could be why it didn’t burn. If you use this mask, I would be careful not to put too much on.
After 10 minutes, you just rinse it off of your face. It comes off pretty easily. I have to say, my skin did feel really soft after I took it off. I have only used it once, so I’m not sure what the long term results of this mask are, but I did really like it.
Would I recommend? If you are looking for a new face mask to try out, then I would recommend trying out this one because it is fun to use and leaves your skin feeling really soft. I don’t know if I would personally buy this again only because I like trying a lot of different face masks so there aren’t many that I would buy again. I only buy it again if I absolutely love it because face mask are just a product that I like to try different kinds. But, like I said, it is worth it to try it out.
