Want to Get a Tattoo?

Want to Get a Tattoo?

Happy Wednesday blog!!! Yay!!! So today I am talking about getting a tattoo. I got a tattoo last year and I didn’t really know what to expect. That is why I decided to write this blog about what to expect and tips about how to figure out what you actually want to get/if you want to get tattoo. I hope this helps!

If You Don’t Know What to Get…

When you are thinking of an idea, it is easy to see something you like and be tempted to get it right away. One tip I think is helpful is to not get the tattoo until you want the same idea for a at least a couple of months. After all, you are going to have this tattoo forever, so make sure it’s something to like.

Also, when you are trying to come up with ideas, it’s okay to look for inspiration. Pinterest has lots of different tattoo ideas. I was able to combine a few ideas I saw online and also add some of my own ideas to my tattoo. When brainstorming ideas, think of things that are important to you and for your first tattoo, you may want to pick a smaller design, so that you can see what it’s like.

Does it Hurt?

Explaining what a tattoo feels like is a tough thing to do because it really doesn’t really feel like you think it would. I am super afraid of needles, so I honestly didn’t even know if I would be able to finish it. It wasn’t that bad! Mine is pretty small and it took about 20 minutes to complete. I would describe it as feeling as pressure more than anything else.

Taking Care of New Tattoos

It is really important to take care of tattoos after you get them so that they don’t get infected. A couple times a day, I washed it with water and Dial soap. After doing that, you hav use a moisturizer with no scent or anything like that. I did this for several weeks after getting the tattoo.

My Tattoo!

When getting a tattoo, remember that it is something you are going to have forever. Don’t rush the process of thinking about what you want! I decided to get a hand signing “I love you” in sign language because my Mom always did that when I was growing up. It reminds me of my family, now that I am in school especially and I am really glad I got it. It did take me a long time to figure out what I wanted before I decided to get it.
