A Mini Travel Guide for your Weekend Getaway: Lake house Edition

A Mini Travel Guide for your Weekend Getaway: Lake house Edition

So, you need a little weekend getaway? We all need one every once in a while. Trust me, I feel ya there. I’m going to start off this blog by talking about what to bring on any lake house getaway. If you want to hear about a great place to go, keep reading and I will share some specifics.

Obviously, before we get to our destination, we have to pack. But what should we bring? Here are some essentials that I bring when I want to have a relaxing weekend. You don’t have to pack too much on these kinds of trips, because they are all about relaxing and having fun. Stress free!

1. A book, or maybe 2

Reading is such a relaxing thing to do, especially when you are on a lake with a nice scenic view.

2. A journal

Even if you aren’t big into journaling, I highly recommend trying it out on your relaxing weekend.

3. Games

I love playing games, especially card games. They are always so much fun and don’t take up a lot of room in your suitcase. One card game that I love to play is called Five Crowns. It’s super inexpensive and is so much fun to play.

4. Bathing Suit

For all of those fun lake activities you can do, like paddleboarding, kayaking or just hanging out by the water.

5. Food!

Plan out what you are going to make for dinner each night so you don’t bring too much or too little.

6. Some type of camera

Whether that be a polaroid camera, a digital camera or your phone, you’re going to want to get some pictures of the awesome views.

7. Bug Spray

If you are at a lake house, I am going to guess that there are going to be a lot of bugs out there, so make sure you bring your bug spray to keep those bugs away.

8. Comfy Clothes

It’s getting hot outside, and if you are just going to relax, don’t worry about bringing fancy clothes, just bring clothes that you are going to be comfortable in.

Where’s a good place to go??

Now, let’s get into the second part of this blog, where is a good place to go on a lakeside retreat? If you are located anywhere around the East Coast, Vermont is a great place to go. I went to Charlotte, Vermont, which is just about 25 minutes outside of Burlington, and it was a great location. The house we rented was right on a huge lake, and there were amazing sunsets everyday. All the houses around the lake had their own private docks so you could go down to the water and watch the sunset.

If you are looking for something fun to do while you are in Charlotte, you can just hop in the car and take the quick 25 minute ride to Burlington where there are a ton of great things to do. One place I recommend going is to Church Street in Burlington. On Church Street, there are a ton of great shops and restaurants to visit. I ate at the restaurant Sweetwaters and it was so good. The food was great, it had outdoor seating which was really nice and it was in a great location.

I hope that you enjoyed this blog and are ready to plan your next lake house getaway. We all need to get away sometimes!

Until next time!

Signed,

Ashlyn
